Frozen food distributor Central Foods has increased its range of poultry products as the appetite for chicken remains huge.
Its Golden Valley Foods range has been boosted by new Southern fried crispy chicken breast strips.
“One of the hot trends for 2017 is the continuing demand for warm, spicy food and these are perfect to help operators meet that demand,” said Gordon Lauder, managing director of Central Foods, which supplies frozen food, including the Golden Valley Foods range, to foodservice outlets across the UK and abroad. “The Southern fried crispy chicken breast strips have a bit of a kick and are really flavoursome. They complement the battered and breaded chicken options that we supply to fast food operators and other foodservice outlets across the country.”
With a full range of chicken products that includes nuggets, bites, steaks, drumsticks, wings, breast fillets and strips, kebabs and kievs, Central Foods has something to suit all tastes and occasions. The company keeps a close eye on current and future trends – ensuring that caterers can serve up just what their customers are looking for.
“One of the general trends that has been predicted for 2017 is that customers will be seeking opportunities for gourmet fast food. Premium poultry products, with a bit of a twist, are perfect for this market. They are versatile – in that they can be teamed with different foods or they can be served in different ways – and yet they are really convenient to use,” said Gordon. “Street food is another area that’s expected to continue to boom. Again, many chicken products are ideal for pop-up operators and street food vendors because they can form the basis of perfect hand-held snacks when added to a wrap, a tortilla, a sub-roll or a salad box.”
Poultry remains the most popular meat served in the UK – appealing to widespread sectors of society. The Golden Valley Foods range has many benefits for caterers, from consistent size and quality through to easy portion control and containing no hydrogenated fats or MSG. Free point-of-sale material, including posters, is available.
“We’re very pleased with how the new Southern fried crispy chicken breast strips have complemented the Golden Valley Foods range,” said Gordon. “Not only are they versatile – suitable for finger food or added to a sub-roll, salad or popped into a wrap or served with fries – the spicy strips can also be served up as part of a meal deal to add value. Waste is reduced, with operators only defrosting the amount they need. They can also offer the Southern fried crispy chicken breast strips in different portion sizes, depending on whether they are serving to adults or children, or whether the product is being used as a snack or part of a larger meal.”
Southern fried crispy chicken breast strips are made from whole breast meat and are milk free, egg free, and halal approved. They are available in 2kg packs, with each strip roughly 45g each.
