Westaways have grown and established themselves as a brand producing retail packs of fresh pork sausages. However over the last eight years they have invested in the capacity and capability to produce frozen and also fully cooked products and now offer a range of products with clear differentiation to competing meat processors. Currently fresh products represent around 40% of the business with frozen and cooked each at 30%. This gives flexibility to plan around the seasonal nature of the business.
Westaways is well recognised in the West Country as a retail brand but distribute chilled and frozen nationally daily throughout the UK to retailers, food service companies and wholesalers, and also export with key markets being Asia, Southern Europe and the Caribbean.
75% of all production is based on the highly successful Honey Roast Flavoured sausage recipe, Westaways are enthusiastic developers of new products, recently adding Black Pudding to the product portfolio. Westaways also won UK Best Brand of Traditional Pork Sausages with their Classic Pork Sausage in 2016. NPD includes how the sausages or pork products they produce might be used in professional kitchens.
