Shmoo shakes up the menu at Terrace View

Located on the top floor of Herongate Club Leisure Centre in Hungerford, Terrace View is an independent family-run café that provides breakfast, lunch, snacks and a selection of drinks to both club members and visitors alike. With exquisite views of the Berkshire countryside, Terrace View

stands out for its ambience, as owner, Colin Matthews-Hewer explains: “I have been running Terrace View Café for the last three years. People tend to come here to relax after they’ve done a workout, sauna or swim. We also get a lot of families here, so it is important that our food and drink menu appeals to a wide range of customers.”

It was this younger customer base that led Colin to shake up his menu with a milkshake offering as he believed it would be a perfect fit for Terrace View’s menu. After a bit of product research, he came across Shmoo, from Aimia Foods for Professionals:  “We looked at a variety of different milkshake brands, but Shmoo came out on top! It is certainly proving to be very popular with our customers.”

Terrace View first explored Shmoo by using the brand‘s starter kit, which includes Shmoo powders, toppings, a steel mixing cup for the Shmoo machine and point of sale material. Colin was delighted that this kit contained everything required to get started with their shake menu:

“The Shmoo starter kit is absolutely fabulous! It was easy to set up, and we were able to start making milkshakes almost immediately. Just superb!”

As Shmoo allows Colin to make a delicious, creamy thickshake in front of the purchaser, it adds additional theatre to the experience and grabs the attention of other customers. By watching their drinks being made, customers know exactly what they’re getting, and they also have the option to customise this with different flavours and toppings.

It’s not just the theatre and quality of the drinks; it is how easy they are to make as Colin continues:  “Shmoo milkshakes are really easy to make. If I can make them, anyone can make them! You simply add semi-skimmed milk to the line of the branded Shmoo cup, add a scoop of Shmoo powder, pop it on the mixer for 30 seconds and bang, you’ve got your milkshake. You can then finish your shake off with cream and toppings.”

As well as being the UK’s leading thickshake brand, Shmoo is high in protein and calcium (when made to instruction with semi skimmed milk), low in fat and free from artificial ingredients. To further appeal to gym-goers , Colin explains how he plans to upgrade the classic Shmoo milkshake with protein powder:  “We’re looking to offer customers the option to add protein powder to their milkshake as there seems to be a high demand for this amongst our gym customers. The fact that Shmoo gives us this versatility is really brilliant.”

Both new and existing Terrace View customers have fallen in love with the new milkshake menu as Colin enthuses: “Since we started selling Shmoo, we’ve had some fantastic feedback. It is a very refreshing drink and goes down really well with our customers.”

He expands by saying: “I would definitely recommend Shmoo to other outlets – restaurants, cafés, leisure centres – it is a very good product that customers love, and they have a very good markup too!”
