Northern Ireland Sauce Maker looking for Mainland Distributors

BJ Sauces of Lisburn in Northern Ireland are eagerly looking for UK mainland distributors for their range of exciting products

The range was developed by businessman Brian Agnew and his father James who owned a number of successful Fish and Chip shops in Northern Ireland for almost 30 years.

As they sought ways to differentiate their business and get an advantage over their competitors, Brian developed a range of sauces and gravies in the back of his shop in Antrim Street, Lisburn, known as BJ Fast Food.

Although no longer the owner of this shop, it continues to trade as Northern Ireland’s first ‘Chipmongers’ franchised shop.

Brian successfully developed a range of sauces which he sold initially from his own shops. In 1998 a small factory was set up and subsequently his products were shared with other Chip shop owners across Northern Ireland. The BJ Sauces/Superchip brands had been born. The business, which is still very much a family owned business, continued to develop and moved in the summer of 2017 to a new ‘state of the art’ premises in the Altona Industrial Estate in Lisburn, where Brian’s son Stephen manages production.

The company has installed a very comprehensive “HACCP” system and uses “CHECKIT” a live cloud based system which gives full traceability for each product and has recently received “SALSA” third party accreditation.

Additional staff have been recruited as the business has developed further. Customers are at the core of the company’s thinking and their input is essential. The company are in the process of responding to customer requests to provide a gluten free range of products, which will be available for sale over the next few months.

Brian believes that the products he has created are superior in taste and quality to many of those already available in the market. Our products are in a paste format and each sauce contains high quality beef, chicken or vegetable bouillon giving each sauce a depth and richness of flavour that is not generally found in powdered products.

Our range of sauces are:

Southern Fried Chicken Gravy

Creamy Cracked Black Peppered Sauces

Chinese Style Curry

Chinese Style Brown Gravy

Each sauce makes 5 times volume when water is added.

Cooking is simple – Add 5 times water, bring to a rolling boil for 2 minutes and serve or hold in a bain-marie (sauces will hold all day)

All products have a 12 month shelf life and are stored ambient. You use what you need and snap the lid back on until ready to use again.

Our sauces are great “Value Added Products” 1 x 4.5kg tub makes 27L of sauce and equals 12-15 times profit.

Last year 2,000,000 customers enjoyed servings of our “Southern Fried Chicken Gravy” in N. Ireland.

Obviously we are biased, but in the words of a famous Englishman we think our sauces are a “taste sensation” – we hope you will think so too.
